
(A strong current, in Pererenan Beach of Badung Regency, swept out a British national to sea to his death)
Bali, TVRI World - Chief of Mengwi Police, Commissioner Nyoman Darsana, has confirmed the fatal incident, which happened on Wednesday (08/03).
He said the victim was Anthony Laskin, an 83-year-old man, from the United Kingdom, while the other six people saved by lifeguards are three Australians, two Germans, and one Russian Citizen.
Local Police First Adjunct Inspector, Si Made Rai Sucipta, said, the seven beach-goers were basking in the sun, and enjoying the water, prior the incident on Wednesday afternoon. Sucipta added, strong tides pulled the seven people at 4 p.m.
Lifeguards at Pererenan Beach tried to save the seven people who were quickly dragged away by a strong current seperately.
Sucipta said, there are three permanent currents in the beach, located in front of La Briska, near a river downstream, and the eastern part of gajah mina statue.
